To whom much is given much is also expected. This seems to be the creed young rave of the moment and soccer phenom Kylian Mbappe seems to be living by.
The French striker has been having a lovely World Cup campaign, recently hogging the headlines after his brace and assist in the second round match led his country to a 4-3 victory over Argentina. The goals were the second-ever time a teenager would score more than a goal in a match at the world cup since 1958 when Pele did in the final against Sweden.
However, he is not in the news now for his soccer prowess. Mbappe is in the news for giving back. This is as he is reported to have pledged all earnings he makes from playing in the World Cup to various organizations, including one that helps children with disabilities engage in sporting activities, the Premiers de Cordées Association.
The organisation would be receiving thousands of dollars in donation from Mbappe to help them acquire and maintain the multiple resources they need to assist and teach sports to children with disabilities.
The monies earned would be distributed to the various organisations on a per match basis. This, he believes, would allow him to reach people, provide help and succour through the proceeds of a sport he loves partaking in. After each match of the International competition, Mbappé has committed to donating to a different charity that will allow him to help a variety of people by simply playing the sport that he loves.
As we chase our dreams, enjoy successes, it behoves on us to, in our own way, pay this good fortune we are enjoying forward.
Thank you Kylian for using your kind gesture and showing us that not all superheroes wear capes.
