Serena Williams born in born September 26, 1981, was an American professional tennis player and widely considered among the greatest tennis players of all time. The tennis player who has received an arsenal of awards during her sport career, recently announced her retirement when she took part in her last professional tournament at the 2022 US open.
Asides from being a tennis superstar, Serena, is also the Founder and CEO of Serena Ventures. Serena Ventures is an investment firm which was launched in 2014 as part of her retirement plan.
The firm focuses on investing in companies at their early stage, giving them a chance to grow and has invested in over 60 start-up companies such as Coinbase an online platform for buying and selling cryptocurrency. She has also invested in other companies such as Floravere, a wedding dress company, Billie, a body and wellness company, etc.
Driven by her love for jewelries, the globally celebrated tennis player, launched a Jewelry line, S by Serena in August 2021. She mentioned that she loves jewelry so much that she even wears massive rings, diamonds, necklaces on the court during her tennis matches. The jewelries are made using only ethically-sourced diamonds and the finest precious metals.
Serena is also dedicated to her charity cause of building schools in Africa. She established a non profit organization, the ‘Serena Williams Fund’ which was founded in 2014.
The mission of this charity is to help individuals or communities affected by violence, and to ensure equal access to education. So far she has erected schools together with her team in Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Jamaica.
Serena William is married to Alexis Ohanian, Co-Founder of Reddit and they have a daughter together, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
