Lola Aworanti-Ekugo is the founder of Trans That NG, a secure online platform that connects travelers who have extra baggage allowance to spare and want to earn some extra money with people in Nigeria who want items from other countries.
Lola holds a BSc in Business Information Systems (First Class Honors) from Middlesex University, London, and an MBA from Imperial College Business School, London. She has founded two start-ups, including Transthat.com, a peer-to-peer logistics platform. Lola is also involved in various initiatives, serving on the Tech Committee of WimBiz, the Digital Transformation Committee of JA Nigeria, and She Leads Africa as a mentor. She has been profiled as one of the exceptional women playing leading roles in their various companies and shaping the Fintech sector in Nigeria by Fintech Africa.
Lola is passionate about empowering youths and addressing the growing skills gap in Africa’s technology industry. In 2020, she founded Techstart.africa, an initiative focused on sparking interest in STEM disciplines and providing individuals with resources, skills, mentorships, and internship opportunities in Technology. Lola is also an author, with her fiction novel titled “Lagos to London” being the first in a series.
She has over 14 years of experience in the Digital and Innovation industry, Lola has held various roles in Europe and Africa, including at Investec Asset Management, Dresdner Klienwort, Commerzbank, BNP Paribas, Union Bank and FirstBank Nigeria. At Union Bank, she served as the Head of Digital and Innovation and at FirstBank Nigeria, she spearheaded the Digital Innovation Labs initiative, formulating and accelerating the bank’s digital transformation and innovation strategy in Nigeria and its subsidiaries. Currently, Lola is the Chief Digital Officer, FBN Quest, where she defines and implements the bank’s digital and innovation strategy and road-map. Her focus is on identifying new digital product/service/fintech opportunities, optimizing customer experience, and improving operational efficiency through technology.
Lola is a proof that a woman is powerful and her mind is the greatest tool she can wield as a weapon of change especially when this is thought of in relation to the amount of work she does.
