Our woman crush for today is Nigerian actress, producer and entrepreneur, Mary Njoku, Founder and Director-General of ROK Studios, a Nigerian production company.

Mary Nnenna Njoku was born on March 20, 1985 to a family of eight. She hails from Nsukka, Enugu state, but was born and raised in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos Nigeria. 

The Nigerian actress had her primary and  secondary education at Amuwo odofin and proceeded to acquire a diploma in computer science. Thereafter, she went to the Lagos State University (LASU), where she bagged a degree in English Language. In addition to this, Mary graduated from the London films Academy in the UK, where she did a course on Producing in 2012.

Mary Njoku is married to Jason Njoku, British-born Nigerian serial entrepreneur, investor, and co-founder of IROKOtv. They got married on August 18, 2012, and are blessed with three children; Jason, Nwakaego, and Amber.

The talented actress and producer kickstarted her career in 2004 became prominent in 2011 when she featured in the movie ‘blackberry babes’. Between 2011 and 2013, she launched her YouTube channel ‘IROKOtv’ and became the Chief Content Officer in 2015.

In August 2013, the entrepreneur founded ROK Studios, a company that produces Nollywood movies and TV series. It expanded across Africa and also to the UK and launched other channels ROK 2 and ROK 3. ROK has produced over 540 films and 25 original TV series

Mary Njoku has received a couple of nominations for her acting. In 2016, she was nominated for the Best Screen Producer at the Ebony Prize Life and The Futures Awarda, Africa Nigeria Prize for Young Person of the Year in 2017.  

The Nigerian actress and Entrepreneur has been able to make a mark in the Nigerian movie industry, and is still fast growing.
