Our crush today is Tara Fela-Durotoye, a Nigerian top beauty entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of the prestigious make-up brand, House of Tara International which has risen to a pinnacle in the makeup and beauty industry.
Tara Fela-Durotoye started her entrepreneurial journey at age 20 with House of Tara International in 1998, she was still an undergraduate then. She studied law but also attended a vocation skill training at Charles Fox where she learnt how to be a makeup artist, she sighted this as an opportunity and grabbed it.
With hardwork and focus, house of Tara International is now a company with different streams of beauty activities like The Make-up Studio, The Make-up Academy, and the Tara product line which comprises of product lines and makeup kits. Her company specializes in the distribution, retail, and channel management of cosmetics.
House of Tara International has been on a fast-paced growth after its inception with branches in Senegal, Benin, Ghana and more countries.
Tara Fela Durotoye has been awarded lots of awards and recognition to her name like Creative Business Award of the Year, Success Digest in 2008, Best Innovative Idea by Nigerian Event Awards in 2011, Forbes List: 20 Young Power Women in Africa in 2013, the award of excellence for Social Impact and Job Creation 2019, a National Recognition by the Vice President of Nigeria and so many others.
Till today, Tara Fela Durotoye serves as a role model to new and existing makeup and beauty artists and producers, as she mentors diverse young female entrepreneurs in Africa.
