To observe our #ThrowbackThursday we are flashbacking to 2015 when a Nigerian- American, Saheela Ibraheem, who we can refer to as one of the world’s smartest teenagers got commended by the then incumbent United States President, Barack Obama .
At just 15 years old, the Nigerian-American, Saheela Ibraheem was accepted into the Harvard university, a prestigious institution known for its high standards that can only be met by students of extremely high intellect.
Not only was she accepted into one of the best schools in the state, it came as a shock when she also got accepted into 12 other prestigious colleges, including MIT, the university of Pennsylvania, Cornel, Brown, Print Eton, Columbia and the university if Chicago and was life’s as one of the world’s top 50 smartest teenagers.
News of her accomplishments caught the attention of the white house and she was invited, a then senior in Harvard and had the honour of introducing the president Obama and his First lady Michelle at the reception of the annual event celebrating Black history month, which took place at the white house, in March 2015 when she was 19 year old.
President Obama commended the genius by saying
” there are a lot of teenagers in the world. Saheela is like one of the 50 smartest ones. That’s pretty smart. She’s like the state department and the national institute of health all rolled up into one. We are so proud of your accomplishments and all that lies ahead of you. You reflect our history. Young people like you inspire our future”.
Saheela got accepted into Harvard at age 15, got into the school at age 16 to study neurobiology, a passion she had had since high school, becoming one of the university’s youngest students. Brilliant Saheela graduated at age 20 with great plans which she has since being working on.
