South Africa’s Allegro Dinkwanyane Is Making Waves in African Media Industry

28 year old Allegro Dinkwanyane is well on her way to becoming the biggest names in media and public relations. She is the founder of a 100% black-owned public relation company, Orgella Media which she launched in 2011 when she was only 21 years old after obtaining her journalism degree from the University of Johannesburg.

Orgella Media is a holding company with eight entities, including an online entertainment magazine www.orgellaonline.com,a PR and Marketing Agency Orgella Communication and a charity foundation called Orgella Helping Hands, amongst others. Her company started as an entertainment blog, specializes in brand management, they produce social media marketing and public relations (PR) Campaigns.

Born in Limpopo, Allergo was trained by a single parent Meriam Dinkwanyane in P Lebowakgomo. She is the last of four children. She grew up in a Christian home, raised by a strong and prayerful woman who was her inspiration. She studied B.A Journalism at the University of Johannesburg and Social Media and Marketing through the University of Cape Town.

She drew her inspiration from media personalities like Oprah Winfrey, Khanyi Dhlomo, Basetsana Kumalo and Coco Chanel. She explained how she was constantly rejected because she was young and inexperienced to run a media company as a young black female entrepreneur. In the year 2017, she made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. She is dubbed by the magazine as the poster child of social media, who makes a living telling stories the rich and famous.

In an interview with SME SouthAfrica she advised lyoung women to stay true to themselves and know their worth, be hardworking  and surrounding themselves with people who will uplift and support them as she got from her friends and family.
