South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya made the top 10 on the medals table of the 18th International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) youth championship in Kenya.
South Africa, hosts Kenya and neighbouring Ethiopia made the continent proud. South Africa topped the medals table with a total haul of 10 medals, (five golds, three silver and two bronze).
Second and third place on the log went to the Peoples Republic of China and Cuba with eleven and eight medals respectively.
Kenya scooped fifteen medals to finish fourth on the medals table – four golds, seven silver and four bronze. Ethiopia followed in fifth place with four golds, three silver and five bronze.
The sixth to tenth position was dominated by European countries. Jamaica at seventh was the only outsider. Germany with 13 medals finished at sixth whiles France Ukraine and Turkey occupied eighth to tenth positions.
