Nigeria’s minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun has been appointed as a member of the investment committee of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF).
In confirmation of her appointment, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, John Beagle disclosed that she has been appointed as a member of the investment committee and would serve a one-year term in office, a tenure which became effective from January 1 2018.
According to him, the appointment was announced at the 55th plenary meeting of the seventy-second session of the general assembly late last year.
The UNJSPF is aimed at securing the rights and entitlements of international civil servants as well as providing other entitled benefits for staff of the United Nations and other organizations admitted into the fund, making it a permanent retirement scheme.
Adeosun was welcomed following her acceptance of the new role by the United Nations secretary-general of the investment committee of UNJSPF, Carolyn Boykin and has swung into action.
