Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala Emerges 2017 African Women’s Player Of The Year

Nigeria’s energetic female footballer, Asisat Oshoala has emerged Africa’s best female player of the year, making it the 10th time a Nigerian would be bagging this award!

The Nigerian national team star player would be taking home this award for the third time, a feat which was aided greatly by her impressive performance at the Chinese women’s top flight.

Oshoala emerged African women’s footballer of the year on Thursday, 4th of January 2018 at the confederation of African Football (CAF) award gala in Ghana, Accra, beating out other competitors like South Africa’s Chrestina Kgatlana and Cameroon ‘s Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene.

In the men’s section, Egypt’s Mohammed Salah also bagged the African male footballer of the year award based greatly on his outstanding efforts at helping Egypt qualify for their first World Cup and his amazing performance with Liverpool club at the English league premier.

Oshoala helped the Dalian Quanjin to the Chinese women’s league championship, an amazing feat in the history of the club.
She is also hoping to lead Nigeria to the FIFA women’s World Cup in 2019.
