Nigerian Entrepreneur, Bosun Solarin Shares Experiences On Producing Plantain Flour And Other Foods

Nigerian agro-entrepreneur and founder of Dasun Integrated Farms Bosun Solarin, has shared her entrepreneurial journey and experiences producing plantain flour and other farm produce.

Dasun Integrated Farms Ltd, which trades under the name, DIFL FOODS engages in primary farming and Agro Processing, with the cultivation of Ginger, Turmeric, Plantain, Banana, Pawpaw and many other healthy farm produce.

Being an Agribusiness enthusiast, with great passion for health, Bosun Solarin is currently the Chairman, Export, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She has shared her experiences of her entrepreneurial journey and the production of plantain flour and other farm foods.

Bosun Solarin who voluntarily retired from civil service at the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust in 2004, has been running her business since then. She initially started with dry-cleaning, and later ventured into agriculture.

Bosun Solarin retired from the Nigerian civil service and spent over a decade running her laundry business. She had no background in farming. In May 2017, deciding to take the plunge into agribusiness, Solarin bought a parcel of land in Ogun State, around 50 kilometres from the centre of Lagos, and established Dasun Integrated Farms.

The Nigerian entrepreneur, farmer, agro-processor, and exporter owns 36 plots of land in Ogun State, where she carries out her farming activities.

Starting out by processing plantain flour, the company today supplies a variety of food items, including spices, honey and fish.

Bosun Solarin has a Higher National Diploma from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. According to statement in an interview with Punch, she tried to go further, but her activism and flare for business couldn’t let her. She got a scholarship to study for a certificate in entrepreneurial management under the 10, 000 women initiative, where she studied at the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.
