Often referred to as ‘Grandmathot’ which is a combination of ‘thot’ with ‘grandma’, Adesuwa Aighewi is stirring the fashion world in both Asia and America. She is known for her beauty, unique style, outspoken manner and rebellious ideas. She is a talented model and fashionista in China that has other models shaking with fear. Apart from being a renowned model, Adesuwa is also a developer with an app called “Places I have Pooped”.
Adesuwa, the second child of four children, was born in Minnesota to a Chinese mother and a Nigerian Father, and grew up in Benin City, the capital of Edo State in Nigeria . She studied Chemistry at Prince George’s County, Maryland. She was discovered on her college campus in Maryland, though modeling was something she did not take seriously because her parents were against it. Before modeling, Adesuwa had hopes of becoming a doctor but she went along with her passion.
Adesuwa is representing African heritage as she was faced with racism when she started modeling. She never gave up her African style which is quite evident in her dressing and hairstyles as she has high hopes of changing the way other people see Africans.
She’s been on the covers of MFF and L’Officiel Paris, walked for the likes of Mara Hoffman, Kenzo, DKNY, Vivienne Westwood, Sophie Theallet and Yeezy (Seasons 2, 3, and 4), and has appeared in editorials for Vogue, i-D, NYLON, Office and Pop. She played Donald Glover’s love interest in his 2011 music video for song “Heartbeat,” and had a role in Diana Gordon’s (formerly known as Wynter Gordon) music video “Woman” last year.0
