Salami Oluwafemi Babatunde, a graduate from the department of mining engineering, federal university of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has just emerged the best student in Mining engineering institute in Nigeria.
At the opening ceremony of the 17th annual general meeting and international conference of mining engineers, an event which held on Thursday, November 9 in Kaduna, salami clinched this award, earning himself a plaque certificate as well as a cash prize of N100,000.
The competition was organized by the Nigerian society of Mining engineers (NSME). Salami WS able to beat out stiff competition from candidates of the same field and other related disciplines from various polytechnics and universities across the nation, finally emerging the overall best in mini g engineering in Nigeria.
In gratitude for the seed of excellence planted in him during his time as a student in FUTA, salami presented his plaque to the vice chancellor, professor Joseph Fuwape who was also in attendance.
In his speech, the vice chancellor congratulated salami for his spectacular feat and for upholding the name and integrity of the school even after graduating. He said “FUTA is proud of you. I Believe by the grace of God, you will go global, the sky is your limit”.
