An individual’s entrepreneurial spirit just can’t be quenched. It will always find a way to peek out no matter what.
Mrs Udeme Mfon-Okon, a former manager of Stanbic IBTC, who quit her job for pig farming recently bagged the Diamond Bank Building Entrepreneur Today(BET) award.
After Mr Udeme’s 12 years in the banking industry, she quit her job in 2012 and decided to go into charcoal and Shea butter exportation but couldn’t continue due to the rigours, stress and struggles involved in the business.
With a small piece of land and the aid of a friend, she decided to go into pig farming and has since been making waves.
Through a video where she talked about her business, as well as business plans, she got nominated for the Diamond Bank BET grant where she later bagged the N3million award, as well as a training at the Entrepreneur Development Center (EDC).
She decided to make proper use of all the knowledge she acquired during the training and is turning what started as a small scale farming into a brand by putting in to place effective business processes, strategy and branding techniques.
From corporate world to her own boss, she is slowly building an empire through proper patience and planning.
