Meet Michael Uzowuru, Producer Behind Hit Songs By Frank Ocean, Vic Mensa

Before Don Jazzy, the music scene in Nigeria was focused on the singers, not the producers. We rarely know the minds behind those hits we listen to. Today, we are shining the light on Michael Uzowuru.

Michael ‘Uzi’ Uzowuru is the mind behind a lot of your favourite songs. The gifted Nigerian-American has worked with the likes of Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt and Vic MensaM

Michael does not have a large portfolio, it is full of critically-acclaimed musical works of art, especially inithe RnB and hip hop scene.

He recently co-produced Anderson .Paak’s acclaimed track,”’Til It’s Over”, which was used in a viral Apple ad. His portfolio includes co-producing and co-writing Frank Ocean’s “Chanel”, which was heralded as “the most important song in the world” at the time of its release in 2017.

Speaking with iD Uzowuru said:

“I want to be good, but I also want to be better, which sounds like they’re the same thing, but in a lot of ways, they aren’t.

For me, the process is much more of my concern than the outcome. I can’t control the outcome, but I can control the process which helps navigate the outcome.”

The 26-year-old believes, and we do too, that he is still yet to do his best work. We trust he would stick to the process and continue to churn out top quality work.
