Globally recognised fashion magazine, British Vogue,recently named a black man has its editor for the first time in over 100 years of its existence.
45-year-old Edward Kobina Enninful becomes the 11th editor of Vogue and its first male editor. He succeeds Alexandra Shulman, who served as head of the magazine for 25 years.
Until his appointment, Ghanaian-born Enninful was head of W Magazine Fashion and Style Director. He spent his childhood in London and started his fashion career after he was model-scouted in 1988.

He became the youngest ever fashion director for an international publication when he took charge of the i-D magazine. Other portfolios he has held in the fashion world include stints with Italian Vogue and American Vogue.
His predecessor had nice words about the new Vogue boss who takes charge on August 1, “Edward is an exceptionally talented stylist who will no doubt bring an exciting new creative aesthetic to the magazine,” Shulman said.
“Every Vogue editor arrives with their own range of talents and experience and Edward is very known, respected and liked within the fashion industry.
“I look forward to finding out his plans as soon as possible and working with him over the next few months of transition so that British Vogue continues to be the leading magazine in this market,” she added.
Enninful was decorated with the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), at Buckingham Palace in London, in October 2016. He was awarded for Services ti Diversity in the Fashion Industry.
