Women are gradually breaking grounds and entering the patriarchal society with their innovative ideas and their hard work, one of such women is Divine Ndhlukula, Zimbabwean businesswoman and farmer who has tackled the male-dominated industry head-on with her company, SECURICO, a security agency that offers clients with complete security solutions. She is also Zimbabwe’s National Chamber of Commerce President.
She started SECURICO right in the cottage of her small home in Harare with four employees, little capital and no experience in the security business after she identified the need in the society for quality and reliable security service provider. She was determined to take on the big and established security companies who had become cartel in a largely male-dominated industry. With hard work, determination and focus, she was able to achieve the impossibility in Zimbabwe.
Divine has an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from Midlands State University and an MBA from Women’s University in Africa. She holds Accounting and Managements Diplomas. She has done several Executive Development Programs amongst others: Dynamic of Successful Management, Empretec Entrepreneurship Management Program, Strategic Business Management by AF International in Sweden, Millennium Training Program for Directors by International Finance Corp (IFC).
All her studies paid off which is evidence as she is widely recognized in Africa for Business Leadership and Gender Equality Initiatives.
Divine won the Africa award for entrepreneurship ahead of 3,400 nominees in 48 African countries in 2011. SECURICO is the first Zimbabwean security outfit to obtain the ISO international quality management certification and has won 11 national awards since its inception in 1998.
SECURICO, as the largest security company, is also the largest employer of women in Zimbabwe as Divine has great passion for women’s economic and social empowerment. She has recently been named by Forbes as One of the Most Successful Women in Africa.
