Chief Mike Adenuga is a billionaire businessman, and the fourth richest person in Africa. His company Globacom is Nigeria’s second-largest telecom operator and also has a presence in Ghana and Benin.
Mike Adenuga is also businessman who single-handedly runs a group of companies that occupies the top twenty companies slot in Nigeria. It is highly inspiring that a man as rich as Mike Adenuga, the second richest man in Africa following Aliko Dangote wasn’t born with a silver spoon and we will love you to learn from his journey.
Mike Adenuga Jnr, was born on the 29th of April, 1953 in Ibadan, Nigeria to Mr Oloye Adenuga who was a school teacher and Mrs Juliana Oyindamola Adenuga (Nee Onashile of Okesopin, Ijebu Igbo), a business woman of royal Ijebu descent.
The Nigerian business tycoon had his secondary school education at the Ibadan grammar school Oyo State. After graduation he proceeded to the United States for his tertiary education, there he worked as a taxi driver and security guard to support his education while studying at the Northwestern Alva Oklahoma State university and Pace university New York where he earned a degree in business administration.
After getting his degree in America, he came back to Nigeria to take over his mother’s business.He sold laces, coca-cola products, and other commodities. As he grew the business to sustainable heights, his revenues rose, till the venture became a larger enterprise.
In 1990, his love for growth in the business industry got an oil drilling license from the Nigerian government. A year later he realised he had struck gold, when in his company discovered oil in the shallow waters of south western Ondo state, in Nigeria.
Today, the rest is history, as he has investments in Telecommunications, Banking, Oil & Gas, and several other sectors of the Nigerian economy. A-lot of people see Adenuga differently; he is a husband, father, team leader, role model, and a successful entrepreneur.
He has built a fortune in mobile telecom and oil production. He launched Globacom mobile phone network in 2006, which has reached about 30 million subscribers, and advancing its operation in West Africa, i.e the Republic of Benin, and recently, he acquired licenses to start business in Ghana and Ivory Coast.
