Mary J. Blige Makes Oscar History, Becomes First Person To Be Nominated For Two Awards Same Year

Globally recognised musician and actress Mary J. Blige has just made history by emerging the first person ever to receive nominations for two consecutive awards in the same year.
This feat would not only go down the hall of fame for the black community, but also around the world as a whole.

The black singer became the first person ever to be nominated for a music award and an acting award in the same year , after her name was mentioned not once but twice, on Tuesday, 23rd of January at a gala for the upcoming 90th Academy Awards where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding performance in Mudbound and also for The best Original Song nomination for her part in co-writing ‘Mighty River’.

The R&B icon and nine- time Grammy Award winner is not just making history as the first person to be nominated twice, her name is to go down in history as the first black woman to attain this major feat.

Her amazing feat has already been recognised by Forbes and BBC and featured on their respective channels and pages.
