Impressive! 21-year-old Xante Wallace Wins Councillor Seat

Young men and women continue to take their place in the political space, demanding to be heard.
This is becoming a sort of movement as Xante Wallace prepares to take the oath of office.
The 21-year-old recent graduate of Prairie View A&M University where he was vice president of the Student Government Association, is set to serve as a Prairie View City Council Member Position 5.
According to ABC 13, the victory at the polls is off his first bid for public office. His campaign was built around a promise to bring more business to Prairie View and improve on the local infrastructure in the small Texas town.

“I intend to emphasize, ‘buy Prairie and buy local,’” he said. “More off-campus housing is being built for students, but there’s no traditional grocery store. The main retail here is the Dollar Store. Otherwise, people have to drive to Hempstead or Cypress to do their shopping. We want the money to stay here, so the city gets some of it.”
Wallace says his goal is to build a greater bridge between the university and the city.
“Prairie View is in a great location,” he said. “There’s no reason it can’t grow to the benefit of the city and its people.”

Acknowledging that questions are being asked of his ability to deliver on his promises considering how young he is, Wallace said he would put all the doubts to rest soon enough.
“Just watch,” he says. “Judge me by my actions.”
Wallace intends to attend graduate school while carrying out the duties of his office. We wish him congratulations on his victory, thank him for being an inspiration and Godspeed in his endeavors.
