How Nigeria’s Ngozi Okpara Won Best Research Paper Award In Spain

As long as you are ready to put in your best into everything you do, you will always emerge the best just like Ngozi Okpara , a Nigerian academic and member of faculty of School of Media and Communication, Pan Atlantic University who won the best research paper award at the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) Ethics of Society & Ethics of Communication Working Group, Madrid 2019 Conference held in Spain.

The winning paper, which was presented at the conference, focused on the effects of computer communication in family relationships.

According to the information on the school’s facebook page, she won the award at the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) Ethics of Society and Ethics of Communication Working Group, Madrid 2019 conference. The event was held between Sunday, July 7, and Thursday, July 11, at the School of Communication of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.

The theme of the conference was tagged “Communication, Technology, and Human Dignity: Disputed Rights, Contested Truths”. Okpara’s paper was titled Role of Ethics in the Reconstruction of Emotional Aspects of Computer-mediated Communication in Family Relationships in Lagos, Nigeria. Okpara is the head of mass media and writing department, School of Media and Communication.

She holds a BA Ed, an M ED degrees and a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The renowned scholar also obtained an MSC in Media and Communication from the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos in addition to other certificate courses, workshops, seminars and conferences within and outside Nigeria. She has several years of teaching experience in secondary and post secondary institutions.

She is a versatile entrepreneur and academic who has attended many national and international conferences both in business and academics. Her areas of research and consultancy are focused in areas like: human communication, ethical issues in media and communication, communication skills and negotiation in community relations.
