From a Receptionist to a PhD Holder: Inspiring Story of Nigeria’s Helen Paul

As women across the globe celeberated International Women’s Day yesterday, March 8, it was a double celebration for Comedian and Nollywood actress Helen Paul as she was confirmed  a doctorate degree holder in Theatre Arts by the Senate of the University of Lagos.

The excited comedienne who started her career as a receptionist took to her Instagram handle to share the good news. In her first post, she wrote that:

“Joy in my heart.

Thank you God Almighty

The Senate of University of Lagos confirmed the award of Ph.D in Theatre Arts to moi!!!!!! What a joy coming on International Women’s Day 08/03/2019. Officially Dr Helen Paul


Still in the mood of celebration, Helen Paul shared her second post which was a video where ace singer Sound Sultan , herself , alongside other people were on stage and he recalled her being a receptionist in a studio where he recorded a song with international singer, Wyclef Jean.

Helen wrote that she started out as a receptionist and that today she has become a doctorate degree holder. Sharing the video with another inspiring caption.
