Frederick Deegbe who is a former banker quit his job for shoemaking business. Although the risk he took was very expensive, however, it paid off as his shoemaking company is one of the biggest in Ghana.
He’s the co-founder and chief shoemaker of “heel the World” shoe production and Design Company in Accra, Ghana. He gave the company that name because of his vision to impact not only Africa but the entire world.
“I believe that some of the best things in the world can come from Africa. Heel The World is not just the name of my company, it is a statement that this is the first step in our journey and adventure to show the world that Africa has so much more to offer. I like beautiful things and so even though I have started with shoes and leather accessories, I plan on going further with jewelry, furniture, clothing, art and music. If it’s beautiful and it’s from Africa” he said.
He was motivated by Ghana’s dependence on foreign goods, and specifically, the local mindset that quality designer shoes cannot be produced in his home country.
Frederick graduated from the Asheshi University where he served as the second president of the Asheshi Student Council and played a lead role in helping define a culture for Asheshi’s student community.
He encourages youths to know who they want to become as this will guide their thoughts and actions.
