Finally! George Weah, First African To Win FIFA World Player Of The Year Emerges Liberia’s New President

Despite the postponement of Liberia’s election in November caused by voting fraud , George Weah, former world footballer of the year has been voted in as Liberia’s new president.

George Weah, a retired professional footballer who was the first African to win the FIFA World player of the year, and also the Ballon D’or has just emerged the new Liberian president.

51 year old Weah has just made history by clinching this prestigious position, after beating out his opponent following the collation of the second voting results on Tuesday, 26th of December.

Weah, the only African footballer to acquire the highest ranking individual award in the world has just clinched another monumental feat, emerging the 25th president of the nation.

George Weah, who topped the first round of voting but did not meet up to the 50% needed to win beat out his opponent vice president Boakai, who has been in the office for the last 12 years.

51 year old George Weah won by emerging Victor in 12 out of the 15 counties in the country.

In his delight, president Weak took to his twitter page to celebrate his victory.

” I am deeply grateful to my family, friends and loyal supporters, who contributed to our campaign during this extremely long election season. We are on the verge of making history for our people” he said.
