SpaceX, a private company owned by Elon Musk embarked on a 64-day historic mission on May 30th to space with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley and returned safely to earth August 2nd, 2020.
This has a lot of achievement for Tesla and Elon musk as the space mission was the first astronaut trip to orbit by a private company and also the first water landing by NASA astronauts since 1975.
With this achievement, ElonMusk has pioneered the private sector getting involved in activities regarding space missions. Normally NASA uses to be the host of most space mission but in this historic mission, NASA was a customer to Tesla.
According to Gwynne Shotwell, the president, and chief operating officer of SpaceX,” she said. “We are starting the journey of bringing people regularly to and from low Earth orbit and onto the moon and then ultimately onto Mars.”
Elon Musk spent a fortune on this project for years and now the result of dedication and unwavering vision is clear, SpaceX has made history and is creating a pathway for other private tech companies to get involved in space mission activities as NASA is now willing to work with private companies judging from the success this mission.
