Renowned Ivorian and African football, Didier Drogba recently landed a great contract with Standard Chartered’s Digital Bank.
As part of the digitization of banking services in Africa, Didier Drogba was chosen to be the ambassador for the fully digitized retail banking services of Standard Chartered Bank, a UK bank. It will be officially presented on March 14, learns the agency Ecofin.
The Chelsea former striker will lend his voice and image rights in a series of marketing and community engagement activities over the next 12 months as part of the communication campaign on the product. “The launch of our digital bank in Côte d’Ivoire is an important chapter in our history in the region. The digital transition also means a progression, not only for our company, but also for our customers, and we look forward to revealing the details of our very first digital bank very soon , ” said Suni Kaushal, Managing Director for Africa and the Middle East at Standard Chartered Bank.
The banking group which is present in 16 African countries has used Côte d’Ivoire as a pilot market for this new service. “Our presence in more than 60 markets provides us with an unrivaled opportunity to test and refine new concepts in unique locations before deploying them across multiple sites. We are currently doing this in Côte d’Ivoire where we are testing a purely digital banking offer , ” explains Bill Winters, the Group’s Chief Executive Officer in the annual financial report for 2017.
