It feels so great to start the week with the inspiring story of a young Nigerian genius, Arinola Olaiya who didn’t only graduate with flying colours but also as a record breaker of her university’s Distinction in Surgery which hasnt been received in the past 28 years.
Arinola is not just an epitome of beauty, but also a determined and hard working intellectual. These great attributes of hers, has made her the first student to graduate with First Class in Surgery at the Faculty of Clinical Sciences in Obafemi Awolowo University.
On the release of the final results, it was discovered that she had bagged 17 distinctions in all her courses to the utter amazement of the distinguished professors in the department. To add more icing to the cake, she also bagged distinctions in Medicine and community health.
This is a monumental feat not just in Nigeria, but also in the school’s history and her name is to be emboldened in the history of the school, serving as a pointer to students, old and new, a proof that success isn’t unattainable but can be reached through hard work and determination.
She is to receive 17 awards on her convocation day and has been widely celebrated, receiving praises from Proud Nigerians both at home and abroad .
