Al-amin Bashir Bugaje, the overall best student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who graduated with a c.g.p of 4.93 has just received a scholarship award from the Nigerian national petroleum corporation (NNPC).
The 23 year old genius who finished with a first class grade from the department of electrical engineering, emerged the highest in the department and also the overall best graduating student.
His amazing feat caught the attention of the prestigious company prompting the scholarship which was announced by the group managing director of the corporation Dr Maikanti Baru in a statement by NNPC spokesman Ndu Ughamadu.
In his statement, Dr Baru said that Bugaje would be sponsored and provided with all he needed to further his education up to PhD level in any institution, anywhere in the world.
“We also want to encourage other students who are still in school to aspire towards achieving excellence in their academic pursuits”he said. In His statement, Dr Baru further revealed that he is an alumnus of the school, having emerged also with a first class degree in mechanical engineering.
In an interview, Bugaje expressed his excitement and intense gratitude for the great opportunity, with promises to come back to contribute his quota to the further development of the country.
